Delivering the best possible results for OPAC’s growers and shareholders is our number one focus.  Our ‘right first time’ approach to orchard management, orchard services and post-harvest services consistently delivers grower returns above, and repacking rates below, industry averages.

OPAC is working ‘hands–on’ with orchard owners to prudently manage re-development of Psa-affected orchards including conversions to the G3 or G14 kiwifruit varieties.  Orchards with Hort16A tissue culture plants are undergoing full redevelopments (replanting with the new Bounty 71 rootstocks), including a number in wetter areas.

The post-harvest team is a record breaker – achieving significantly lower fruit losses than industry averages – and OPAC’s Factory Road packing and cool storage facility is first class.  The facility delivers operational efficiencies which contribute to reducing direct grower costs, while returning more to those who grow and own the fruit.

In 2012, OPAC played a significant role in the construction of an improved in-market Supplier Accountability mechanism.  As a result, OPAC growers’ fruit performs exceptionally well in Zespri’s Service Level Agreement into European markets and earned the highest per-tray premium of any large supplier.

OPAC Grower Testimonial

“OPAC’s skilled and experienced post-harvest team does a first-class job managing inventory.

In 2012, the industry, on average, achieved record-low fruit loss of approximately 3%.  OPAC and its supplying orchards achieved less than 1% losses across all packed trays.”
